In 2006 Beth Hart sang the song “I Gotta Right To Sing The Blues” with Toots Thielmans.

She Used To Play Classical Works On Piano When She Was 4 Years Old

At the age of just 4 years old, Beth Hart was playing classical works by Bach and Beethoven. As she grew up she also started to play pieces by various artists like Otis Redding, Etta James and Led Zeppelin.

She Started Performing In Clubs At The Age Of 15

At the age of 15 Beth Hart started to regularly perform in clubs in Hollywood. It was while working at some of these clubs that she met guitarist Jimmy Khoury and bassist Tal Herzberg who went on to record her first album with her, “Beth Hart And The Ocean Of Souls” in 1993.

She Won Female Vocalist On Star Search

In1993 Beth entered the TV competition Star Search after one of her friends bet her $50 that she wouldn’t. Beth not only entered the competition, she won the best female vocalist as well as the top prize money of $125,000. 

However, due to the stigma attached to the show (Beth said she only entered because the show was aired very late on a Sunday night and she thought nobody would see her) it never landed her a recording contract.

She Performed In Front Of President Obama

In 2012 Beth Hart performed at the Kennedy Center Opera House along with several musicians singing “I’d Rather Go Blind” in tribute to Buddy Guy who received the 2012 Kennedy Center Honor for his lifetime contribution to American culture.
