Maroon 5 are an American rock band who were formed in Los Angeles, California in 1994 and were originally known as “Kara’s Flowers”. The current band members are Adam Levine (vocals), James Valentine (lead guitar), Jesse Carmichael (keyboards, rhythm guitar), Matt Flynn (drums), P J Morton (keyboards) and Sam Farrar (bass).

The band Kara’s Flowers was formed while they were still attending high school in 1994. They released 3 albums before getting dropped by their record label. They then dropped out of college, changed their name to Maroon 5 and released their first album “Songs About Jane” in 2002.

7. Jordi (2021)

Released on June 11th 2021, “Jordi” is the 7th studio album by Maroon 5. It features guest appearances by artists including Stevie Nicks, Megan Thee Stallion, Blackbear, Bantu, H.E.R., YG, Juice WRLD and Nipsey Hussle.

There were 5 singles released from this album which were “Memories”, “Nobody’s Love”, “Beautiful Mistakes”, “Lost” and “Lovesick”.

The first single, “Memories” is dedicated to the band’s manager Jordan Feldstein who died of a pulmonary embolism at the age of 40. 

The album peaked at number 8 on the Billboard 200 album chart in the US and number 19 on the UK album charts.

6. Red Pill Blues (2017)

This was the band’s 6th studio album which was released on November 3rd 2017. It was their first album to feature Sam Farrar as an official band member and not just a touring member (as he had been since 2012). It was also the last album to feature Mickey Madden (bass) as he left in 2020.

The album’s title makes reference to the film “The Matrix” and is the follow up to their 2014 album “V”. This album features guest artists; Kendrick Lamar, Julia Michaels, Lunchmoney Lewis, SZA, Future and ASAP Rocky.

There were 5 singles released from this album which were; “Don’t Wanna Know”, “Cold”, “What Lovers Do”, “Wait” and “Girls Like You”.

The album peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200 chart in the US and number 2 on the UK album charts.

5. Hands All Over (2010)

This was Maroon 5’s 3rd studio album which was released on September 15th 2010. One of the album tracks on this album, “Out Of Goodbyes” features Lady Antebellum. Plus the single “Moves Like Jagger” features Christina Aguilera.

There were 4 singles released from this album which were; “Misery”, “Give A Little More”, “Never Gonna Leave This Bed” and “Moves Like Jagger”.

This album peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200 chart and number 6 on the UK album charts.

4. V (2014)

“V” as in Roman numerals for 5, is the 5th studio album by Maroon 5 which was released on August 29th 2014.  It was their first album released through Interscope Records and also marked the return of Jesse Carmichael (keyboards, rhythm guitar, backing vocals) after he was missing for the previous album “Overexposed” (2012).

One of the tracks on this album “My Heart Is Open” features a collaboration with Gwen Stefani. 

There were 5 singles released from this album which were; “Maps”, “Animals”, “Sugar”, “This Summer’s Gonna Hurt Like A Motherf#@#er” and “Feelings”.

This album peaked at number one on the Billboard 200 chart in the US and number 4 on the UK albums chart.

3. Overexposed (2012)

Released on June 20th 2012, “Overexposed”  is Maroon 5’s 4th studio album. This was the band’s only album not to feature Jesse Carmichael who took a temporary break from the band and was replaced by P J Morton. 

The lead single from this album, “Payphone” features rapper Wiz Khalifa. Other singles released from this album were; “One More Night”, “Daylight” and “Love Somebody”.

This album peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200 chart in the US and also at number 2 on the UK charts.

2. It Won’t Be Soon Before Long (2007)

This was Maroon 5’s 2nd studio album which was released on May 16th 2007.  It was the band’s first album to feature Matt Flynn on drums and the chorus on the track “Nothing Lasts Forever” is the same one that Kanye West used on the single “Heard ‘Em Say” which features Adam Levine.

“Nothing Lasts Forever” was also featured in an episode of the TV show “The Hills” and in a promotional video for the 2008 film “Definitely, Maybe”.

In 2008 the album was reissued with added tracks including; 5 B-sides and “If I Never See Your Face Again” their then current single featuring Rihanna. As well as a remix of “Wake Up Call” featuring Mary J. Blige.

Other singles released from this album were; “Makes Me Wonder”, “Won’t Go Home Without You” and “Goodnight Goodnight”.

The album was a Top 10 hit in many countries and number one in the UK and the US Billboard 200 chart.

1. Songs About Jane (2002)

This was Maroon 5’s debut album which was released on June 25th 2002. All of the members of Maroon 5 apart from one were all members of the band Kara’s Flowers who released an album called “The Fourth World” in 1997 on the Reprise Records label.

By 1999 they had left Reprise Records and once James Valentine joined the band, they became Maroon 5. 

They released 5 singles from this album which were; “Harder To Breathe”, “This Love”, “She Will Be Loved”, “Sunday Morning” and “Must Get Out”.

The album was recorded at Rumbo Recorders in Los Angeles and produced by Matt Wallace. It was a Top 10 hit in many countries and number one in Australia, the UK, France and New Zealand.
